Professor Xianzhe Dai Named American Mathematical Society Fellow

Math Department faculty member, Professor Xianzhe Dai, was named to the 2024 class of American Mathematical Society fellows. Congratulations Xianzhe!

The Fellows of the AMS program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication, and utilization of mathematics. According to AMS President Bryna Kra, "This year's class was selected from a large and excellent pool of candidates, highlighting the many ways in which our profession is advanced."

Fabio Ricci Takes People's Choice Honors in UCSB's 2023 Grand Slam Showcase

Congratulations to Mathematics graduate student Fabio Ricci, who won the People's Choice Award for the 2023 Grad Slam Showcase!  This is an annual contest in which students communicate their research to a general audience in a three-minute talk. Fabio's talk was titled "Optimal Transport and Isoperimetric Inequalities (and why are pizzas usually round?)."

Recruitment - Lecture Pool

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers to teach undergraduate or graduate Mathematics courses. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter, depending on the needs of the department. Positions may range from one quarter to one year with the possibility of reappointment depending on performance and further departmental need.
