I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and attended
Loyola Marymount University in
Westchester, California, where I was a member of the
Honors Program. I received
a B.S. in Mathematics, and did my senior thesis on the
congruent number
problem and
elliptic
curves under the guidance of Michael Berg.
In the summer of 2005 I participated in the
Claremont
Colleges REU in Knot Theory under the guidance of Jim Hoste. I
presented this research at the undergraduate poster session at the
Joint Meetings in San Antonio Texas in January 2006. The research I did
in conjunction with Professor Hoste will be published in the Kobe
Journal of Mathematics in 2009.
In the summer of 2006 I attended the
Trinity
University REU in San Antonio, Texas. Under the guidance of Vadim
Ponomarenko I studied the higher dimensional Frobenius problem.
I am currently a fourth year graduate student at the University of
California Santa Barbara. I am working on the effects of topological
constraints in polymers for various polymer models, under the
guidance of
Ken Millett.
I am also interested in math education. Last year I worked with
Maribel
Bueno Cachadina on the first
UCSB Math
Circle, an inquiry based after school program for local middle
school students. This year I am teaching a course for future
elementary school teachers with Bill Jacob.
In my spare time, I enjoy crafting,
lolcats,
zombies
and
listening to music.
